About Us
We support people in our community who may need financial assistance, medical equipment, transportation to doctor appointments, or help at home. Sometimes that help looks like lending a hand with household tasks, preparing meals, or simply being there when someone needs support.
We also provide a welcoming place for the community to gather. Our organization owns the local medical building, which helps bring doctors and healthcare services directly to our community.
Every dollar that is donated or raised is put right back into helping local people. Our mission is simple: to care for our community, support those in need, and make sure no one feels alone when facing life’s challenges.
The MacTier Lions Club was chartered by Lions International in 1948. It is the longest serving volunteer club in MacTier and District. The Lions Club Inc. was incorporated as a nonprofit on January 28, 1976.
The Mission Statement, By-Laws and Constitution are those of Lions International.
The Lions Club built the MacTier Medical Centre in 1976 and our Club continues to operate the facility. We lease the Medical Centre to the Wright Clinic, a satellite of the Wright Clinic in nearby Parry Sound. There is a full time nurse practitioner and a doctor who attends 4 days a week in the summer months and one or two days during the tourist off season. The medical services are used by the residents of MacTier and the surrounding communities and also by the influx of tourists from Muskoka’s Lake Joseph and Georgian Bay.

The MacTier Lions Club is pleased to be part of the MacTier Events Committee (MEC) and has assumed the position of the lead applicant for the Canada 150 grant. The Lions Club has set up a dedicated bank account for the MEC and will be responsible for the financial statements including the recording of all revenue and expenses.
