Through the Adopt a Highway program, Lions volunteers help keep our community clean, safe, and welcoming by collecting litter along the roadway from south of Mactier to Highway 400. This ongoing effort supports environmental care, community pride, and public safety while reflecting the Lions’ commitment to service and responsibility in our local community.

The Lions Club operates a bottle sorting program that allows community members to donate alcohol containers in support of local service initiatives.
We maintain five collection sheds where bottles can be dropped off:

• Foots Bay Marina
• Tower Road Dump
• Medical Centre in Mactier
• Healy Lake Dump
• Woods Bay Dump
• Crane Lake Lodge

Community Appreciation Day is the Lions Club’s way of thanking the people of Mactier for their ongoing support. Volunteers set up the food bus at the hall and serve freshly made French fries, barbecued burgers, and hot dogs free of charge, creating a simple but meaningful opportunity for neighbours to gather, connect, and enjoy a meal together.

The Lions Club Day of Service helps elderly community members who are unable to complete outdoor work on their own and do not have family nearby to assist. Lions volunteers rake leaves, remove debris, and help with basic yard cleanup, helping seniors keep their homes safe, well maintained, and supported by their community.

The Lions Club supports effective speaking programs in local schools, helping students build confidence, communication skills, and leadership. Each year, top Junior and Intermediate students advance to regional and district competitions, with a chance to win the $1,000 top prize.

The Santa Claus Parade is a much-loved holiday tradition in Mactier, featuring festive floats, holiday cheer, and a special appearance by Santa Claus. After the parade, families are invited to the arena to meet Santa, enjoy a hot dog and hot chocolate, and take part in a free public skate.

Show the Glow is a family-friendly five-kilometre walk in Parry Sound that raises funds and awareness for diabetes. Beginning at dusk along the fitness trail, participants wear glow-in-the-dark items to light the way, creating a fun and memorable evening in support of diabetes-related initiatives and community health programs.

The Lions Club Wild Game Dinner is a popular community event featuring a variety of carefully prepared wild game dishes, often including moose, venison, bear, beaver, and fish. Guests enjoy a chef-prepared meal, an elimination draw, and a great evening out, with proceeds supporting Lions Club programs and services in the community.
