Show the Glow

Show the Glow is a five-kilometre community walk held to raise funds and awareness for diabetes. This family-friendly event takes place in Parry Sound along the fitness trail.

The walk begins at dusk, with participants wearing glow-in-the-dark items to light the way and create a fun, energetic atmosphere. Show the Glow brings families, friends, and community members together in support of an important cause while enjoying an active and memorable evening.

Proceeds from this event help support diabetes-related initiatives and community health programs.

Santa Claus Parade

The Lions Club Santa Claus Parade is a much-loved holiday tradition in Mactier. The parade features a variety of creative and festive floats that bring holiday cheer to the community.

The event concludes with a special appearance by Santa Claus, arriving on a decorated float. Following the parade, families are invited to the arena where children can meet Santa, enjoy a hot dog and hot chocolate, and take part in a free public skate.

This event brings families together, celebrates the holiday season, and reflects the Lions Club’s commitment to creating joyful community experiences.

Effective Speaking

Every year the Lions Club works with the local Mactier Public School for a day of speeches. Two categories of children stand up in front of their schoolmates to speak about a topic that interests them.

The winners of the Junior and Intermediate categories go on to compete with other winners within the district. They are also invited to a Lions dinner, and will receive a cash prize from our club.
